A chef’s knife is the work horse in any kitchen. In this hands-on class, Chef Tim will teach us safe and proper knife skills to cut, slice, chop and mince, and some advanced techniques to up your kitchen game! We will learn the proper method for holding a chef’s knife, and also how to sharpen a knife. Learning these techniques will make your work in the kitchen easier, faster, and safer.
Enjoy the fruits (and veggies) of your labor.
All this chopping will become the ingredients for the preparation of a popular Korean vegetable and noodle dish called Japchae which the group will enjoy at the end of class.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their kitchen knives to use during the class. We’ll also have several knives for people to try. At the beginning of the class, Chef Tim will demonstrate of couple methods to sharpen your knives.
Attendees will receive 10% off any knives purchased that evening.
Tim is graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. He’s honed his craft at esteemed restaurants, including Union Square Cafe, The Equinox Hotel and Gigi’s Trattoria. Tim specializes in cooking Italian, Mediterranean, Korean and Austrian cuisines. He especially enjoys sharing his knowledge about different cuisines and cooking techniques with home cooks.
Chef Tim discovered his love of their culture and cuisine growing up in a Korean nighborhood. His passion spurred him to travel to Korea and to frequent many Korean barbecue restaurants. He’s refined his cooking techniques by hosting many Korean dinners.
