Acclaimed cheese maker, Peter Kindel, led a hands-on class of cheese making and tasting. Peter explained the science and art of turning fresh milk into fabulous curds. Starting from scratch, everyone made their very own jar of feta to take home. Peter also shared his seasoned palate with a tasting of several cheeses paired with wine from Hudson Wine Merchants.
Peter’s life as a cheesemaker began with a trip to France in 1994. From that time, he has been on a journey following his passion for cheese to where ever it leads him. After spending seven months in France studying cheese, he has held professional positions in both sales and processing to get a deeper understanding of the products and the business. His journey as a cheesemaker has taken him to farms in Scotland, Colorado, Vermont, California and New York. In 2009, Peter’s journey landed him at Hawthorne Valley Farm making cheese and teaching. Peter is currently making cheese and teaching independently.
