These drawings are from my flat gesture sculpture series. In this body of work, I am “thinking flat” as I explore with cut paper, charcoal, paint and steel, the evocation of gesture in sculptures in a single dimension. This work stems from my earlier focus on sculptures and figurative gestures. I’ve eliminated the figurative elements in the gestures and added a single structural line to create a series of what I call “flat sculptures.” Gestural lines and circles are natural elements in figurative study.
